Days of Prayer 16-30

Sixteenth

Praise of the Day

He is the True Vine

General Prayer of the Day

Pray for our civil protectors: fire, police, and healthcare.

Prayer for your Spouse and Children

Pray for their Words

To get you started:

We praise you, Father, for being the True Vine.  We are the branches you’ve grafted us on and can only flourish with the nourishment and love you provide. Through you, we can bear beautiful, lasting fruit to share with others.  Without this connection, we would be fruitless and wither away. You are our lifeline.

Today we pray for our civil protectors: Our police, firefighters, and healthcare workers.  These roles are filled by brave people who have taken up a challenge many of us would not dare to do ourselves. They face many dangers and exhaustion. Please give them strength, courage and protection.  We appreciate all they do to keep us safe.

Father, we pray for our spouses’ and children’s words. That their words are used to build others up and not tear them down. It’s increasingly popular today to say everything that pops into one’s mind. It’s so easy to get caught up in the moment and respond out of frustration, anger, arrogance, or pride. Father, we know you have much better intentions for our words. We pray you will guide our loved ones and give them wisdom to think before they speak. The wisdom to use their words to show your love, to encourage others, to strengthen others’ faith, and to spread your truth.

We pray all this, today, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Seventeenth

Praise of the Day

He is the Lord of Hosts

General Prayer of the Day

Pray for our educators (home and public)/school boards/staff

Prayer for your Spouse and Children

That God arms them and protects them

To get you started:

Father, we praise you. You are the Lord of Hosts. You are the commander of the greatest army that has ever existed.  Though many have tried – no one can defeat you.  The continuing battle against evil wages on and is just too big for us.  Help us to be brave and carry on because we know we never fight alone. By your power – the side of truth always wins.  You lead us to victory!

Today we pray for our educators (home and public), school boards, and school staff members. They have an especially important role placed in front of them.  They educate, influence, and mentor our children. The decisions they make have a lasting impact on their future. May your love and hope shine through them as they teach truth – and only truth.

Today, Father, we pray that you will arm and protect our spouses and our children. Life is full of challenges – many of which are spiritual. The devil continually tries to chip away at our beliefs. Give them the wisdom to put their armor on daily so they’ll be ready to fight against the evil one. May they fully grasp the value of the tools you’ve provided. With them, many battles can be stopped before they start. Our loved ones may be at different stages of readiness and preparedness, but you are there, right beside them. You never leave them to fight their battles alone and we thank you for that.

We pray all this, today, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

eighteenth

Praise of the Day

God is Uncontainable

General Prayer of the Day

Pray for our homes and our lands.

Prayer for your Spouse and Children

Pray for their Freedom

To get you started:

Father, we praise you for you are uncontainable!  We cannot put you in a box. It’s easy to fall into the trap of limiting your work to ways we can understand.  The unfathomable surely cannot be possible.  Fortunately, your power and abilities are not limited by our small thoughts.  Your ways are greater than our ways and we take pleasure in watching you do the unimaginable.

Today we pray for our homes and land.  We pray for nourishing rains and lack of drought to help our farmlands and other lands thrive. We pray for your protection against destructive wildfires, floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes, and other natural disasters.  You have blessed us with this land.  Give us wisdom on how to take care of it.

Father, we know that our pasts, our expectations, our insecurities, and our temptations can tie us down.  These things put us in a type of bondage – burdening us with heaviness and immobility. The devil uses these things to keep us from living the free life we’re meant to live – the free life Christ died to give us. The bondage is, in fact, merely an illusion. We are free but the devil convinces us otherwise. So, we pray that our spouses and our children recognize their free-ness and break the chains that bind them – letting nothing hold them back.

We pray all this, today, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

nineteenth

Praise of the Day

He is the Lord who Provides

(Jehovah Jireh)

General Prayer of the Day

Pray for our co-workers/employers and work environment.

Prayer for your Spouse and Children

Pray for their Provision

To get you started:

Father, we praise you. You are the Lord who provides. You are Jehovah Jireh.  You know our true needs (even those we don’t see or recognize) and always provide for them – sometimes in ways we don’t understand or even like in the moment. But we trust in you. Your ways are best.

Today we pray for our co-workers and employers.  We pray your light shines in their lives and for your blessings to be upon them.  May we be positive influences and examples on how to live and how to work as if working for the Lord.  We also pray for the overall environment in which we work.  We pray against uncomfortable tension, bad attitudes, and ungodly behaviors.   May our jobs feel like the blessings they are meant to be.

Father, we pray for our spouses’ and children’s provision – that you will provide for their needs (spiritual, emotional, physical, financial, etc.). You know their needs much better than we do. You see what we don’t see. You know the difference between their wants and their true needs. We trust in your provision for them and pray they trust in you as well and can rest in their faith.

We pray all this, today, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

twentieth

Praise of the Day

He is the Lord who Heals

(Jehovah Rapha)

General Prayer of the Day

Pray for the family unit – praying against broken homes.

Prayer for your Spouse and Children

Pray for their Health

To get you started:

Father, we praise you for being the Lord who heals.  You have the ability to heal our bodies, minds, and spirits.  Sometimes you choose to heal all three or sometimes only our spirit.  Sometimes you heal immediately or over a period of time.  We may not understand your methods, but we can trust in your healing one way or another.

Today we pray for the family unit.  Father, we have so many broken homes. Marriages, parents, and children are struggling everywhere.  Divorce rates are high, single parent homes are increasing, and children are left without dual role-models.  This was never your design. Healthy families lead to healthy individuals which lead to a more Godly, stable, and peaceful land.  May people see the wisdom in preserving the family unit.

Father, we pray for your protection and healing over our spouses’ and our children’s health. We refer not only to their physical health but their mental and emotional health as well. Help them to make wise decisions that keep them out of harm’s way. May they understand the importance of taking care of their bodies and their minds but more than that, please give them strength and discipline to do what they can to maintain their health.

We pray all this, today, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

twenty-first

Praise of the Day

He is our Shepherd

(Jehovah Rohi)

General Prayer of the Day

Prayers for our spouses/boyfriends/girlfriends

Prayer for your Spouse and Children

Spouse’s Marriage

Children’s Future Spouse

To get you started:

Father, we praise you. You are our shepherd. You lead us to still waters and green pastures to give us peace and nourishment. You guide us down paths of righteousness to protect us and restore our souls. When we wonder off you will leave the ninety-nine to bring us safely home. We are abundantly cared for by your loving, watchful hand.

Today we pray for our spouses (or boyfriends/girlfriends). May you bless them richly with confidence, integrity, and wisdom.  We, personally, have a unique role in this blessing as well.  We are meant to love them unconditionally, build them up, and encourage them spiritually. May we not hinder their growth.  Help us to be conduits of your grace so that they can thrive in your light and love.

Father, today we pray for our marriage – that you bless our relationship so that we grow in friendship and love – that we build each other up and encourage each other to live Godly, dedicated lives.

For each child we pray for their future spouse – that you will send the right person into their lives. Send someone who is wholly devoted to you first of all, and who will adore our child, lifting them up to reach their potential. Bring them someone who makes them feel safe, secure, and loved.

We pray all this, today, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Twenty-second

Praise of the Day

He is our Shelter

General Prayer of the Day

Prayers for Parents

Prayer for your Spouse and Children

Our Spouse’s parental role

Our Children to understand their role

To get you started:

Father, you are our shelter. We praise you for being our cover and refuge during life’s many storms.  We never have to go unprotected or exposed to worldly elements (the elements of sin). In your shelter evil cannot abound. It’s a place where we can regain our strength and renew our spirit.

Today, we pray for parents.  It is one of the most enjoyable “jobs” in the world and yet it comes with huge responsibility.  There are daily decisions to be made and no owner’s manual to tell us what to do.  We pray for wisdom in how we raise our children.  Help us to make it a priority to teach them about you.  But more than that, help us to show them how to have a personal relationship with you.

Father, we pray for our spouses’ role as a parent.  We pray that he or she trains our children bionically, lovingly, and is a Godly role-model for them to emulate.  May they not exasperate or break our children’s spirits but rather encourage them with Godly wisdom.

For our children we pray they understand their role in the family. Help them to be respectfully obedient. Help them to understand their parents are trying their best to teach them truths, train them for adulthood, and demonstrate love. May they value their parents even in times of disagreement.

We pray all this, today, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Twenty-Third

Praise of the Day

He is the Lord who is There

(Jehovah Shammah)

General Prayer of the Day

Pray for today’s children and the challenges they face

Prayer for your Spouse and Children

Pray for help in dealing with the pressures of this life

To get you started:

Father, you are always there. You never leave nor forsake us.  You are not some far off distant being.  You are right beside us.  Even when we don’t feel your presence, you never leave our side. You are actively involved – ready and willing. You offer comfort in our pain, wisdom in our choices, and strength to fight temptations (and the list goes on).

Today we pray for our children.  It’s not easy being a child.  It seems now more than ever there are so many pressures (from unsafe sources) on how a child should think, live, who they should be, etc.  We pray for them to find their true identity in you and feel secure in that knowledge.  They are who you made them to be: beautiful and wonderful. Give them strength to handle the pressures they face. May they find joy, hope, and peace in you as you guide them safely through their challenges.

Father, we pray, specifically, for the pressures our spouses and children face in this life. We pray that these pressures don’t overwhelm them or crush their spirit. Help them to know that they are never alone – you are always with them. Please give them the peace needed to handle difficult situations, the outlook to know that these things will pass, and the assurance of your comforting hand.

We pray all this, today, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

twenty-fourth

Praise of the Day

He is a Jealous God

General Prayer of the Day

Pray for Extended Family, Friends, Neighbors

Prayer for your Spouse and Children

Pray for their hearts

To get you started:

Father, you are a jealous God.  You want our allegiance and full devotion.  You deserve nothing less from us, your creation. And with our devotion comes your fierce protection. We thank you for that. Many will try to steal your glory, but you will always defend your reputation and your honor. Your glory is yours alone.

Today we pray for our extended families, our friends, and our neighbors.  So many times, it’s easy to be focused solely on what’s happening in our own little world that we forget to pray for those close to us.  These loved ones are often our support system and strength. Please bless their lives, grant them good health, and most importantly draw them closer to you. May we, personally, be better at letting your love flow through us so we can bless them.

Father, we pray for our spouses’ and children’s hearts. Protect their hearts from hatred and judgement. Help them to remember that the heart is a love muscle that must be exercised. The more we love – the stronger our hearts are and the more protected they are from spiritual decay and hardness. We pray that our precious loved ones will maintain a heart full of love, gratitude, and thankfulness.

We pray all this, today, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

twenty-fifth

Praise of the Day

He is the God who Sees

(El Roi)

General Prayer of the Day

Pray for orphans, widows, unborn and the needy.

Prayer for your Spouse and Children

Their Selflessness

To get you started:

Father, you are the God who sees (El Roi). You see our pain, our joys, and our hearts.  Each one of us is significant and important to you.  Nothing is hidden from you. You are fully aware of what’s going on in our lives.

Today we pray for widows, orphans, the unborn, and downtrodden – that you will put your hand of protection over them.  We know from scriptures that these loved ones are near and dear to your heart.  Help us to have your same heart. May we, as Christians, lead the way in caring for others. May the world see Christ’s love in action through us as we reach out, minister, and protect those in need.  Help us do a better job at defending the defenseless.

Father, we live in a world that screams selfishness is the only way – that we must always look out for ourselves first. This is not your way, Father. Help our spouses and our children to look for and to see the needs of others. Help them to not be oblivious to what is around them. Guide them into being selfless, cheerful, and compassionate givers.

We pray all this, today, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

twenty-sixth

Praise of the Day

He is our Reward

General Prayer of the Day

Pray for the grieving and the lonely.

Prayer for your Spouse and Children

Pray for their prayer lives

To get you started:

Father, we praise you. You are our reward – the true prize for which we run the race. No earthly possession or relationship is greater than you!  All things here are temporary but you are everlasting. You are the best of everything – the filler of our souls, the light in our darkness, the presence in our loneliness and the love we long for.

Today we pray for those that are grieving and for the lonely. This world is full of such pain – such grief and yet you offer hope and comfort.  We pray you will guide them through their sadness and loneliness to a point where they can feel joy once again. Bring people into their lives who will help them in that process.  Wrap you loving arms around them – for your presence and love matters most of all.

Today, Father, we pray for our spouses’ and our children’s prayer lives. Help them to see the value of prayer. It offers so much – it’s an avenue of praise; it’s the primary way we communicate with you (sharing our thoughts); it’s an important weapon in the fight against evil; and it gives us the chance to intercede for those around us. Prayer builds and strengthens our relationship with you. May our loved ones desire this connection with you and readily engage in prayer.

We pray all this, today, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Twenty-Seventh

Praise of the Day

God is Merciful

General Prayer of the Day

Pray for our enemies and forgiveness

Prayer for your Spouse and Children

Pray for forgiveness (for others and from others)

To get you started:

Father, we praise you for you are merciful. We continually let you down or go against your will (sometimes intentionally). Anyone else would give us what we deserve. Yet, your mercy never ends. We can be restored, renewed, and refreshed.

Today we pray for our enemies and to forgive those who’ve wronged us.  These are not easy things to do but you haven’t asked us to do more than what you did for us. Anger is an easy emotion quickly manipulated by the devil. It creates a chain binding us to hatred. It will ruin our spirit. Loving our enemies and forgiving others is the way to break that chain and truly be free. Father, please give us the strength to take the more difficult path of forgiveness.

Father, today we pray for our spouses and our children in the area of forgiveness. We pray they understand, first and foremost, that you require forgiveness and secondly, help them to understand the power forgiveness can have in their lives. It is incredibly healing to the heart, mind, and soul. We also want to pray for situations where they have wronged someone – may they be filled with a repentant heart and that others will forgive them as well.

We pray all this, today, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

twenty-eighth

Praise of the Day

He is our Father

General Prayer of the Day

Pray for each individual’s priorities

Prayer for your Spouse and Children

Pray for their priorities

To get you started:

We praise you as our Father. A father is someone who is loving, caring, provides, disciplines, hopes, and prays for his children. We thank you that no matter what our earthly father is like – you are the perfect example and role-model we need. You are always there for us – ready and waiting for us to come home.

Today we pray that you help set our priorities.  Help us to not get so caught up in our personal desires that we lose sight of your will and your desires. You have a plan, and we are a part of that plan. We are here to serve you – not the other way around. When our priorities are set in you, we spend less time fighting you and more time living in your blessings.  Help us refocus our priorities to reflect that understanding.

Father, we pray for our spouses’ and children’s priorities. In our increasingly busy lives, there are so many things being thrown at us – so many things vying for attention. These things can easily distort and redirect our priorities. We pray that you give them a clear focus on what needs to come first. After that everything else will fall into place as you will them to.  May their priorities be God-directed and not self-directed.

We pray all this, today, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

twenty-ninth

Praise of the Day

He is our Savior

General Prayer of the Day

Pray for those who don’t know God

Prayer for your Spouse and Children

Pray for their dedication to God

To get you started:

Father, you are our Savior.  You were the one spotless lamb that could be offered as a sacrifice for us. You were the only one willing and capable to die in our place – sanctifying us – cleansing us in righteousness. You saved us from destruction because your love for us is that great. We thank you and praise you!

Today we pray for those who don’t know your name as well as for those who do know your name but have chosen to turn away. They do not know what they do.  They’ve either never been taught or have been blinded by darkness. They can’t see the blessings you offer (love, joy, peace…and salvation). We pray their hearts are softened, their eyes are opened, and the truth sets them free.  Help us to do what you ask and spread your name in love. May we never write anybody off as you have never given up on us.

Father, we pray for our spouses’ and children’s dedication – that they are fully dedicated to you. Life pulls us in so many different directions. We are easily distracted by things that slowly weaken our dedication. May you help guide their focus back to you and protect their heart from things and ideas that will harden them.

We pray all this, today, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Thirtieth

Praise of the Day

He is the Alpha and Omega

General Prayer of the Day

Pray that we love others as God loves

Prayer for your Spouse and Children

Pray that they find favor

To get you started:

Father, we praise you. You are the Alpha and the Omega; the first and the last; the beginning and the end (and everything between). You are the perfect symbol of completeness. This world began with you, and it will end with you – in your perfect timing. We are safely in your hands.

Today we pray that you will help us love others as you love (unconditionally). Each and every one of us is special to you and should likewise be special to us.  May your love flow through us so that we can spread your light to the world around us.

Father, we pray that you will bless our spouses and our children with not only your favor, which is what we strive for, but also, that you will help them to find favor with their employers, peers, and friends.

We pray all this, today, in Jesus’ name, Amen.

Finally, Father, as we end our 30 days – please help us continue to spend time with you in prayer – connecting with you and building a relationship. Renew our dedication and understanding that the more we pray, the more we see you working.  Thank you for all your many blessings. We are eternally grateful!  In Jesus name, Amen.
