God's Priorities

This morning I woke up thinking, again, about the chaos in our country and I was struck with a thought.  We, as a nation or even as Christians, seem to be narrowly focused on one thing – the physical world. 

What do I mean by that?  We look around and see multiple layers of corruption in this country and think, surely God’s anger has reached a pivotal point. He will come in and wipe out all the bad guys and set this country back on a moral path. Physical world battle won.

Don’t get me wrong. I’m not saying that won’t happen.  I’m simply saying that somewhere along the line we’ve forgotten God’s priority is the spiritual, not the physical.  The layout of the world’s political boundaries is, at the very most, a secondary concern.

Let that sink in.

We – our spiritual selves – our hearts are MORE IMPORTANT TO HIM than the political framework of the country where we live. 

God cares and has always cared more about the spiritual than the physical.  Just read the Bible and you’ll know that I’m right.  There are many instances where God’s actions from a physical world standpoint didn’t even seem to make sense.  But, upon further examination, God was after a spiritual result which, again, is His priority.

What does that mean? Sometimes it means pointing out our sins, sometimes He’s trying to strengthen His believers, or maybe even preparing His army.  Whatever the case…there is always a spiritual reason for the things He does or allows.

Does that mean we can’t have both a spiritual and physical victory at the same time? Of course, we can. But, whatever happens, be at peace knowing that the spiritual victory takes precedence, and we are safely in God’s hands.

I praise God this morning because I’m His priority.  You’re God’s priority. His people’s hearts are His priority.  Bringing more souls to Him is His priority.  We are!!  Not this country. Not this world.  We, the people!!
